French Feed Ingredient Producer Files EU Complaint Over Chinese Lysine Prices

French company Eurolysine, part of the Avril agrifood group and the EU’s sole fermentation-based amino acid producer, filed a complaint with the European Commission over falling prices of Chinese lysine, a key amino acid used in animal feed. Reuters reported that Eurolysine argued Chinese exporters had lowered prices to levels that weakened the effect of existing anti-dumping duties.

The complaint also referred to broader market pressure on amino acids including lysine, valine, and tryptophan, which are widely used in livestock feed for growth, protein synthesis, and stress regulation. For feed additive producers and exporters, the case shows that pricing, trade remedies, and regulatory enforcement are becoming more important in the global amino acid market.
