China Launches 2026 Livestock Feed Grain-Saving Campaign to Promote Efficiency in Animal Production

On April 19, 2026, China’s Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs launched the 2026 “Livestock Feed Grain-Saving China Tour” series in Nanchang, Jiangxi Province. The campaign aims to promote grain-saving practices in animal production and strengthen industry awareness around feed efficiency, resource conservation, and food security.

According to the ministry, feed grain remains one of the major components of grain consumption, making grain-saving in animal production an important long-term task for the livestock and feed industries. Since China began promoting soybean meal reduction and substitution in feed in 2018, the sector has made progress in improving formulation efficiency and reducing dependence on traditional protein raw materials.

The campaign will focus on communicating policy measures, showcasing practical results, and promoting successful technical cases from production sites across major livestock regions. For feed producers and animal farming enterprises, the initiative highlights the growing importance of precision nutrition, diversified raw materials, and efficient feed utilization in modern animal production.
