On April 16, 2026, Singapore announced that it would recognize EU-wide regionalisation measures for African Swine Fever, Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza, and Foot-and-Mouth Disease, allowing Singapore to avoid country-wide import restrictions when outbreaks are confined to specific areas in the EU.
In the same announcement, both sides also agreed to allow raw materials used in manufacturing meat and egg products to be sourced from any EU member state approved by Singapore, instead of requiring animals and derived products to be born and raised in the same single member state. Singapore also approved Greece, Lithuania, and Latvia as new import sources for meat, eggs, and related products, bringing the total number of authorized EU member states to 18.
For meat, egg, and broader agri-food trade participants, the update points to more flexible sourcing, lower disruption risk during animal disease events, and deeper regulatory alignment between exporting and importing markets.
